CELEBRATE THE MAGIC!

What makes our school such a dynamic learning environment for our children?  It's the magic created by the combination of great teachers and great programs that can be implemented through the financial support of parents and donors like you.   Thanks to your support, we were able to implement new programs this year such as the science lab, the refurbishing of the auditorium and the library.    Your donations continute to fund our in-classroom teacher aids, the computer lab, art programs and more.    These programs distinguish our school from others.  We hope you will join us on MARCH 1st, to celebrate the magic of our recent achievements and to help secure our future goals for the school.

What is the Overland Auction? 

Friends of Overland (FOO) holds one gala event each year to raise funds that provide nearly 450 public school students with access to excellent academic instruction, social and civic preparation as well as instill an appreciation for diversity and the development of personal integrity.   This is the last big fundraising event of the year.  It's social and entertaining and we look forward to seeing many parents and members of the community there!

Who attends?

Overland families, teachers, administration and memebers of the community.   You do not need to be a parent to attend, so invite your friends!

When and where is the auction?

Saturday, March 1st
6:00 pm Cocktails, Silent Auction and Teacher Treats
8:30 pm Dinner
Live auction, hosted by KTLA's Sam Ruben to follow

How do I get tickets?

Invitations are going out Monday, Feb 4th.  Simply RSVP!
Tickets cost $ 90 per person* for the entertainment, hours d'ouerves and an elegant buffet dinner

How can I help?

SOLICIT SOLICIT SOLICIT!   We need ALL families to help solicit items for the auction.   Our goal is to have every family bring in at least one item.  While the solicitation activity is off to a great start , we still need more!   Whether a big ticket item for the live auction, or smaller items for the silent bidding, we need your help!   Some exciting items are already in like a Staples Center Suite to a Matchbox 20 concert and front row seats for a Laker game. 

HereÕs a few items that were either donated or brought in by Overland parents in recent years:

Hair Spray Movie Premiere tix
Golf at L.A.Õs most prestigious private golf clubs
Dodgers Luxury Suite
Laser Eye Surgery 
Theme parties (see below) 

Also gift certificates to restaurants, massages, yoga classes, sports tickets, theatre tickets, acting classes, tutoring, free hotel stays, sports memorabilia, behind the scene tours to t.v. shows, and more.

Time to get creative and bring in some great stuff.   Bring forms with you to restaurants and businesses you frequent and ask for donations.    Ask friends, family members, and neighbors if they would donate.    Simply download the donation form and make copies...or email them to your contacts!

What are theme parties?

A theme party is just that...a party with a theme that can be hosted by one or multiple families that are bid on.   Families who host the event pay for the event as their donation...proceeds collected at the auction for the them party goes to Overland.

They are a great way to meet other Overland families!    Example of theme parties from the past include:

Family Wildlife Hike and Picnic Brunch
Ladies Tea Party
Back Yard BBQ Party

NEW FEATURE:  THE WINE CELLAR!

Are you a wine collector? 
Do you know someone in the wine trade?
If so, the Auction could use your help.  

This year, weÕre introducing a new feature at OverlandÕs upcoming Auction:  The Wine Cellar.   Wines will be packaged and placed in the silent auction. To stock our ÒCellar,Ó weÕre requesting donations from wineries, wine stores, wine distributors and individual wine collectors.  Your connections would help make these solicitations easier -- and more profitable -- for our school.
